Starting in September, Moderncat Studio will be hosting cat and kitten adoptions during the downtown Phoenix First Friday Artwalk. Adoptions will be run by All About Animals Rescue and will take place from 6 to 10 pm. Stop by to see these little cuties!

Moderncat Studio is located inside Bragg’s Pie Factory at 1301 W Grand Ave in downtown Phoenix. Free parking is available in the lot at Grand and McKinley. Enter through gray door facing McKinley.

Art Detour is an annual weekend-long event showcasing art studios and galleries across downtown Phoenix, and Moderncat Studio will be open featuring some special guest artists and of course all our regular handmade goodies for cats and cat lovers.

Come see us for the Third Friday artwalk on March 18 from 5 to 9 pm, and on Saturday, March 19 from 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, March 20 from noon to 5 pm. We’re located inside Bragg’s Pie Factory at 1301 W Grand Ave. Free parking is available in the lot at Grand & McKinley.

Artist Daniel Shepherd of the ambient studio will be exhibiting at the Moderncat Studio for Art Detour weekend, showing his abstract paintings and illustrations, including a new series of cat-themed paintings that he created just for this show.

Come meet Ross T. Boyd, the artist and illustrator who creates these incredible pen and ink drawings. Ross has been drawing animals for decades and is a true cat lover!

Our Bamboleos (Spanish for rock, roll, and wobble) turn recycled wine corks into stylish little toys that cats love. Stow combines three functions in one: cat toy storage, scratching, and play. Moderncat Studio will be exhibiting at Unique LA December 11 & 12 at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles from 11am to 6pm both days. You will find the best handmade holiday gifts you can hope for, plus refreshments, music, DIY workshops and more.

At Moderncat Studio, we love experimenting with different materials, especially all natural materials like cotton. We have two new creations, designed and made by guest designer Gerda Lobo, that I know you and your cats will love. First is the Cuna cat bed, crocheted with soft, thick cotton piping. The curved sides are perfect for snuggling and the textured surface is immediately attractive to cats. Measuring 15 inches across and 3.5″ tall, the Cuna cat bed fits cats up to 15 lbs. comfortably, as Gerda’s cat Stanley is demonstrating below.

Next we have the Patada kicker cat toy. Kitties love big toys for grabbing and kicking, and that’s just what these toys are designed for. Each Patada (Spanish for “a kick”) is crocheted using natural cotton twine that will stand-up to kitty’s roughhousing. The Patadas are lined with cotton muslin and filled with a sturdy foam insert. Measuring 5.5 inches long by 2 inches in diameter, the Patada kicker toy is the perfect size for a kitty wrestling match.

Both the Cuna cat bed and the Patada kicker toy can be machine washed. The bed can go in the dryer and we recommend air drying the toy. Cuna and Patada are available from the Moderncat Studio Etsy shop, Cuna is $45 and Patada is $12.

Cats love cardboard scratchers, but you may not love how they look sitting on your living room floor. Circle Scratch is an attractive way to disguise kitty’s favorite scratch pad with a unique designer touch. Circle Scratch is a handmade scratch pad holder, covered with vintage and designer fabrics that add a splash of color to your home. The center scratch pad can be flipped over for twice the use, or it can be easily replaced. Non-skid feet keep Circle Scratch in place on hard floors so kitty can give it a good workout.

Overall the Circle Scratch measures 11.5” in diameter and 2” tall and the inner scratch pad measures 10” in diameter. The Circle Scratch comes with one round cardboard scratch pad. Replacement scratch pads are made by Bergan and are available for purchase in packs of 2 online or at most major pet product retailers.
